My name is Baladan, the solo designer and developer behind ranklist.io.
If you’re here, you’ve probably spent hours arguing with friends about why The Witcher 3 is better than Skyrim, or why the Marineford Arc is the peak of Shonen anime. I built Ranklist because I was tired of static "Top 10" articles written by one person. I wanted a place where the community decides the ranking, where your vote actually shifts the leaderboard.
Current phase: Beta
Sign up experience: Users can sign up using their Google or Discord account, or manually with their email
Basic list reranking: As a user you can see the initial 50 or so lists that I made and you can participate by re-ranking the list. Your input will change the global calculations. Over time, with enough people's re-ranks, we can slowly see the definitive opinion of the fandom.
Discussions: Every list's page has a discussion thread. Keep it work friendly plz.
What's coming next: Phase 2
Create a list: Users who are authenticated will have the ability to create their very own list that other people can join in on.
Groups/Communities: Making a top 10 list is fun but it's more fun when you compare your list against a friend's list. By making groups or communities (name TBD), we can create micro-environments for you to see how you ranked "Best Pixar movies of all time" against your grandma.
Long term vision: Phase 3 and beyond
Tierlist: In the early stage of concepting, I wanted to show 2 types of ranking formats based on one calculation; A list and a tierlist. The math was a bit complicated so I paused that effort. But wouldn't it be fun if we incorporated a tierlist?
Open the floodgates: Currently RankList has 5 distinct categories: Anime & Manga, Movies & TV, Sports, Music, and Gaming. These 5 categories were formed based off of my own interests. But you might be interested in other topics too. Tech products? Best pizza spots in NYC? We can add topics that are of importance to you.
