I noticed that our collective memory is incredibly short when it comes to video games, but we hold onto NBA legacies like they happened yesterday. What surprised me was seeing Jerry West slide into the top three, comfortably ahead of some of the modern giants we usually see dominating these conversations. Kobe Bryant sits happily in second place, which feels like the correct hierarchy, but West's enduring legacy shows that our users respect the foundation of the game.
Over on the gaming side, the [Best Super Mario Power-Ups](https://ranklist.io/list/best-super-mario-power-ups) list threw a bit of a curveball. I was expecting the Super Star to easily run away with the top spot because who doesn't love being completely invincible? Instead, the community went with the utility of the Fire Flower. The Super Mushroom settles into third place, proving that while size matters, throwing fireballs is just more fun.
Speaking of gaming, we also saw some old wounds reopened. Tim Duncan predictably dominates the top spot, but Karl Malone and Dirk Nowitzki rounding out the top three is bound to cause some arguments.
