As of July 6, 2026, our community of 4 rankers has created a massive deadlock at the very top of the [Best Fantasy Series](https://ranklist.io/list/best-fantasy-series) list, and I am honestly thrilled to see the chaos.
I was fully expecting the cinematic weight of Lord of the Rings to carry it to an undisputed first-place finish. Instead, the wizarding world of Harry Potter has matched it step-for-step, leaving the two giants completely tied at the summit. It is a testament to how deeply those original Harry Potter films are baked into our collective childhoods. Even with all the cinematic majesty of Middle-earth, the comfort of Hogwarts still holds an equal grip on our hearts.
Just behind our co-leaders, Game of Thrones claims the third spot. It is a respectable finish, but the real story is the massive gap between the original series and its prequel. House of the Dragon has settled into the very bottom of the list, landing behind even The Witcher. I theorize that while the original series became an unavoidable cultural event, the prequel is suffering from a mix of franchise fatigue and the lingering sting of how the original series ended. Fans are clearly less willing to forgive the spin-off for its slower pacing.
One of the biggest surprises for me is how well The Chronicles of Narnia performed. It ranks comfortably ahead of newer contenders like Percy Jackson and the Olympians and even lands well above the blockbuster powerhouse of The Hunger Games. Narnia has a quiet, enduring magic that clearly still resonates, even if it does not dominate modern social media discussions the way Percy Jackson does.
Speaking of the demigods, Percy Jackson and the Olympians narrowly beats out The Hunger Games to secure a spot in the top five. With the recent television adaptation giving the franchise a fresh burst of energy, I expected it to climb even higher, but it seems the community still holds a lot of reverence for the older classics.
If you believe Lord of the Rings deserves the crown all to itself, or if you think Harry Potter is the undisputed king of fantasy, head over to the [Best Fantasy Series ranking on Ranklist](https://ranklist.io/list/best-fantasy-series) and cast your votes to break this tie. Disagree with where House of the Dragon landed? Rank it yourself.
