I knew the Egghead Island arc would break the One Piece power-scaling community, but seeing how wildly we split on the Gorosei this week is something else. Based on 6 rankers, the community is in absolute chaos over where the world's highest authorities actually stand.
It makes sense why we are so divided. For years, the Five Elders were just old men in suits sitting in a room. Now that they have unleashed their monstrous Yokai forms, everyone is trying to figure out if they are top-tier threats or just carried by their regeneration hacks.
The biggest point of contention is St. Figarland Garling. Some people put him right at the top of the food chain because of his God's Knights hype, while others think he is being vastly overrated before we even see him go all out in the current timeline. He is easily the most polarizing figure on the [Strongest One Piece Characters](https://ranklist.io/list/strongest-one-piece-characters) list right now.
Then you have the actual Gorosei members. St. Shepherd Ju Peter and St. Topman Warcury are causing massive headaches for voters. Warcury showed off some of the most ridiculous durability we have seen in the entire series, shrugging off attacks that should have leveled mountains, yet some rankers still place him well below the others. Meanwhile, Ju Peter, despite his giant sandworm form, gets ranked much lower by fans who feel he did not do enough to justify a top spot.
The swordsman of the group, St. Ethanbaron V. Nusjuro, seems to escape some of the harshest skepticism, usually landing comfortably ahead of his peers because of his speed and that massive black blade. Still, the gap between where people place him and where they put St. Marcus Mars is incredibly tight. Mars had some of the most imposing aerial presence on Egghead, yet his actual combat ranking is a complete battleground.
My theory on why we are so split comes down to how we define strength. Are we ranking them based on their immortal-like regeneration, or are we looking at their actual offensive output? If Luffy cannot hurt them, they should theoretically top the list, but our voters clearly are not ready to put them above the likes of Shanks or Mihawk just yet.
This list is a beautiful mess right now. If you think you can make sense of the Gorosei hierarchy, head over to the [Strongest One Piece Characters](https://ranklist.io/list/strongest-one-piece-characters) page. Disagree with how the Elders are landing? Rank it yourself.
