The One Piece Power Scaling Debate Is Fracturing

I expected the community to argue about whether Luffy has surpassed Kaido, but instead, everyone completely fractured over the massive power-scaling question marks sitting at the top of the World Government. Based on 6 rankers who submitted their definitive lists this week, the community is having an absolute crisis of faith when it comes to placing the Gorosei and the leader of the Holy Knights. It turns out that the [Strongest One Piece Characters](https://ranklist.io/list/strongest-one-piece-characters) list is the most chaotic battleground on the site right now. The biggest point of contention is St. Figarland Garling, who has split our rankers right down the middle. Some voters are ready to crown him as an elite threat based purely on his legendary status and his role in God Valley, while others are keeping him firmly in the middle of the pack until we see him do more than execute defenseless Celestial Dragons. It is a classic clash between narrative hype and concrete combat feats. The Five Elders are causing a similar civil war. We saw them display terrifying, seemingly immortal abilities recently, but our rankers cannot agree on how to scale them against the rest of the pirate world. St. Shepherd Ju Peter and St. Topman Warcury are generating massive disagreement, with their placements swinging wildly from list to list. St. Marcus Mars and St. Ethanbaron V. Nusjuro are not far behind in terms of controversy, though Nusjuro seems to edge out his peers in terms of general respect, likely because we actually saw him cut a giant island-sized lab in half. My theory is that we are experiencing a massive generational divide in how we evaluate power in the series. Some fans rank purely on hype and narrative importance, which naturally pushes these ancient rulers to the top. Others need to see actual battle damage and clear victories before they move anyone ahead of established powerhouses like Shanks or Mihawk. Until Oda gives us definitive answers, this list is going to remain a beautiful mess. Do you think the Five Elders belong at the very top, or are they overhyped? Disagree?
